You can chat privately with any other player. To initiate a conversation, select the player, and choose "Talk with <player>" from the Player menu. A convenient shortcut is to drag a player name or player icon 
on to the Chat window.
Single or multiple chat windows
You can select whether private conversations appear in separate windows, or are shown in the main chat window with other game-related chat messages (this is the way early versions of MacFIBS worked, and many people prefer this method.) When using the main chat window, you can choose which player to talk to using the pop-up menu.
Indicate which method you prefer in the Chat section of the Preferences window.
